KID CONNECTION
Think back to when you were a young child and what summer meant to you. Children today are living a much faster paced life than previous generations. Smart phones and the internet have sped up the rate at which we are living our lives. There are some positives about this but for kids on summer vacation, slowing down is incredibly important. Most schools are very busy during the school year and so quickly paced that slowing down for the summer and letting it all soak in is so important. A little boredom is known to help children's mental health, psyche and creativity. I know some parent's instinct is to go, go, go do all the fun things now that summer is here and that is important, too! Yoga is so much about balance and finding the middle way. Remember as you begin this summer, as you're setting your summer intentions, goals and bucket lists, something I've told myself each year (in Ella Fitzgerald's beautiful voice), "Summertime and the living is easy." (Gershwin) Slow down and take it easy this summer. Let the fun come to you!
