A VIEW FROM THE EARTH, ON YOUR MAT
When was the last time you laid down on your back outside and looked up at the sky and trees? It's a beautiful and really simple experience. After doing some animal yoga poses and a nature scavenger hunt (printable), it is an absolutely peaceful and incredible feeling to lay down in savasana, relax and take in the nature around you. Kids can count bird chirps, listen for leaves blowing in the wind, and try to lay as still and quiet as they can. Give it a try, and you will love how you feel.
ANIMAL YOGA POSES
Animal poses are perfect for doing yoga outside and kids love to think of their own new animal poses to try. It's fun to make some animal poses up if there isn't one you know. This scavenger hunt printable is so fun to try different animal and plant poses, outside. Here some of the best animal yoga poses for kids.
NATURE YOGA SCAVENGER HUNT
This printable Nature for Yoga Scavenger hunt has beautiful images and makes trying each nature pose extra fun! Print them on cardstock to reuse again and again. Kids love this activity!
GARDEN YOGA POSES
A theme of garden yoga lends perfectly to doing yoga outside. Here are some great garden yoga poses and a garden sequence printable to try.
SAVASANA UNDER THE TREES
Relaxation at the end of class is one of the most important parts of the entire activity. Teaching kids to slow down, be still and quiet and listen to the nature sounds around them is such a wonderful experience to share with them. Even if you just try a few poses and then lay down outside on a mat for a few minutes of quiet, you will be amazed. Notice the clouds, the birds, the trees, the leaves, close your eyes, it's your time to just be, in nature.
