Healthy Snacks for Kids
The best healthy snacks are "real food". Try to give little ones something with at least some protein so that they stay full longer and have a substantial food to energize for more kids yoga!
Yogurt
High protein, low sugar yogurt is best. My favorite is Fage! You can stir in a little fresh fruit or tiny bit of jam to sweeten it a little while still being a very nutritious snack. Fage even sells the kind with fruit on the side in individual portions which is super convenient.
Nuts
Nuts are great for taking on the go or packing for school snacks. You can vary the types from almonds, cashews, peanuts, walnuts, pistachios (shell-less), there are so many! You can add some dried cranberries, raisins or even golden raisins to mix things up and keep snack time fun for the kiddos.
Fruit Smoothie
Use a high protein, low sugar yogurt like greek. My favorite is Fage! Don't be afraid to sneak in a few healthy veggies or superfood powder.
Baked Sweet Potato Fries
Baked sweet potato fries are a favorite! It helps to keep things interesting and change up the snacks.
Hard-Boiled Eggs
Add a little salt to hard boiled eggs for iodine and flavor. They sell prepackaged hard boiled eggs that are really yummy and easy as can be! You can even get fancy and try deviled eggs with or without paprika, which is a strong flavor for young palettes.
