GARDEN POSES
Introduce the concept of karma and that "we reap what we sow". If we take care of and nurture ourselves, we will grow and thrive, just like a seed needs sunshine and water to grow into a beautiful flower.
SEED POSE
Find child's pose, or seed pose by bringing your forehead to the earth and wrapping your arms around the side. Imagine you're a tiny seed and all you need to grow.

STEM AND ROOTS
Next, stand up tall and imagine your feet are rooting into the ground as you raise your hands up high.
SUNSHINE POSE
A plant needs sun to grow so reach your arms and legs out next for sunshine.

RAIN
Pitter, patter let the rain come down with dancing fingers that mimic rain.

LOTUS FLOWER POSE
Begin by sitting up nice and tall with criss cross legs. Next, put one foot in your lap. This is half lotus pose, then put the other foot in your lap for full lotus pose. Bring your hands gently to rest on your knees, palms facing up or down. You can close your eyes.

A lotus flower is a beautiful white or pink flower that grows on lily pads. Lily pads often grow in dark, murky and muddy swamps and ponds. For a fun visual and imaginative activity, have children do lotus pose and explain to them the metaphor that the lotus flower represents in yoga. Even in a world that is muddy and yucky and even if you're having a bad day, you can still be the beautiful lotus flower shining and smiling within the not so perfect world.
