FEELIN' CRAFTY WITH KIDS
One way we love to pass the time when we're staying inside because of the weather, is by getting crafty. Kids love to paint but sometimes, we need to take it up a level- painting but not just any standard painting! Not only is painting fun and good for fine motor development but it's also very calming and even has therapeutic effects. Just like playing an instrument or getting in the zone with anything you're creating, painting and repetitive creating especially is soothing for the mind and soul. Check out how we're staying cool and feeling crafty in unique ways.
PAINT BY NUMBERS
Paint by numbers sound a little funny at first and there isn't a lot of creating really going on but it can be really fun for beginner painters who don't know where to start. What made me an instant believer? Painting by numbers was invented by the genius, Leonardo da Vinci. He used it to teach his apprentice painters skills and techniques. It's also very relaxing, even for skilled painters and adults. If you try this with your kiddos, I would definitely do one yourself, too. It's so calming and has been proven to relax the adrenals and ease anxiety, improve memory and more.

PAINT YOUR OWN POTTERY
Painting your own pottery is an old classic activity that is still just as fun. These kits make it easy, peasy with everything needed, included.

GLITTER ROCK PAINTING
This one is so simple and can be done outside for a nature feel. Kids pick out a rock from the yard or buy smooth river rocks that are great for painting. You can even write messages on them! My favorite way is using glitter pen paint to make glitter rocks! So easy and they look so awesome when finished.
We love these glitter glue pens and use them for all kinds of art projects.
FUSE BEADS
Relaxation can be achieved through repetition and concentration and focus. The activity of putting the beads on the plate is great for kids. It teaches patience, too.
