BODY SCAN RELAXATION
Take kiddos to a calm and peaceful place by relaxing each part of their bodies, one at a time.
Ask kids to start out by taking a couple of deep breaths, in through their nose and out through their mouth. Tell them that we're going to forget about everything in the world and any problems or worries, by thinking about each part of their body, one at a time. They can do this sitting up or laying on their back, flat (savasana). Remind them to slow their breathing and try to be as still as they can in their mind and their body.
First, start by relaxing your toes and feet. Take another deep breath and think about your legs, your ankles, knees and relax your legs. Next, deeply inhale and then exhale, relax your belly and your back. Relax your shoulders, arms and hands. Bring your attention and awareness to your face, and neck and relax them. Take a big breath in, sigh it out and relax your forehead and top of your head. Now relax your entire body all at once.
