BATH NIGHT
HOW TO KEEP BATH
NIGHTS SIMPLE
By: A mom of three sets of twins
Many people don't know that cleanliness and orderliness is part of living a yogi lifestyle. The sanskrit word saucha translates to "purity" and "cleanliness" and "clearness". Decluttering, keeping your mat clean and keeping your space neat are all ways to practice saucha. It is the first of the five niyamas, or personal observances from the second limb of Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga. When you are a parent with many young children, bath night (or maybe we should start calling it, saucha night) can look a little wild. I like to keep the bubbly time as calm and relaxing as possible.
People often wonder how in the world people with large families possibly handle bath night. Our bath night is very routine-based and usually runs pretty smoothly. The boys are in one bathroom while the girls are in the other, on an alternating schedule. After that, they all get their PJs on and cuddle up while we cut their nails and brush their hair one at a time. The kids love our tradition of watching "book shows" while we do their hair and nails! They are not shows but real children's books, read aloud and often animated. It works out really well since they are so engaged in the story and technically, we aren't skipping books. There are so many great ways to watch book shows (not tv shows). We watch most of ours through the Kanopy App, which you set up through your local library and stream through smart TVs/Roku/Apple TV. Kanopy is amazing, free and there are tons of choices. We sometimes watch book shows on Bookflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube or Tumblebooks. The Vooks (video books) on Kanopy are particularly great for young readers because they show the text and highlight the words as it is read. Clean, happy, calm kids and parents!

Excellent Bath Toy Storage
This toy bin holds a lot of toys and is high quality and durable. It has stood the test of time for us. It's also a really cute and friendly penguin, keeping bath time fun and organized.

A suction cup is not strong enough to hold very many toys but if you replace it with this Command large utility hook, it will hold a lot and never falls down.

Safety Nail Clippers With A Light
This is the best nail clippers for the 120 tiny nails we clip! You can see what you're doing easily with the safety light! Love this one.
Our favorite detangler sprays and soap- they smell SO good!
We use this detangler spray because it works the best and smells the best! I use it on the boy's hair too since it doubles as a leave-in conditioner.

The Honest Company also has a great detangler spray that is more budget friendly. It comes with our favorite gentle soap which is great for sensitive skin.

Book Shows
Kanopy, Bookflix, Tumblebooks, Amazon Prime and Youtube all have wonderful selections.
Faucet Protector
These faucet protectors are definitely a must have! They're cute and keep their heads protected from the sharp metal.
Foot Massages
If you're up for giving their clean, adorable little feet foot massages with lavender lotion, they'll love it! Burt's Bees Lotion is one of our favorites.
Toothpaste, Flossers, Toothbrushes and Timers
Our kids love the Tom's strawberry toothpaste's flavor and since it's organic, I love it, too! Some kids really love flossing... and we encourage that! The disposable flossers are perfect for kids to start their dental hygiene off right. Brushing your teeth is fun, now. I mean how adorable are the toothbrush timers?! Electric toothbrushes are great, even from the youngest of ages.
SOUCHA AND RELAXATION
Baths are great for self regulation and reducing stress for kids and adults. So are the rituals after bath time like lavender lotion massages. Not only is it cleanliness and the physical body being purified, but taking a bath is also a way to have self-care, emotionally and mentally. Bring on the bubbles!
